She is a nursing educator who loves to make learning interactive and engaging, helping students connect theory to practice while developing strong critical thinking skills. Heidi is passionate about preparing future nurses to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.

She values the opportunity at Jessup to integrate faith, scholarship, and service, encouraging students to see nursing as both a professional calling and a way to serve others.

Outside the classroom, Heidi is a proud mother of two who enjoys yoga, family game nights, and movie marathons. She strives to model balance and connection, inspiring students to find joy and purpose in their nursing journey.

Biography:

Jennifer Batt is serving as the Phlebotomy Program Coordinator, supporting the development and delivery of the program. She is currently in progress of obtaining her Ph.D. in Health and Human Performance through Concordia University in Chicago (CUC). Jennifer Batt has 13 years of experience as a Criminalist for the California Department of Justice (Bureau of Forensic Services). She has 8 years of experience as a forensic toxicologist where she has performed analysis and qualified as an expert witness in criminal trials in over 17 counties throughout California, providing interpretation on the effects of drugs on human performance. She also has 7 years of experience as an adjunct professor at a4yyҹ where she taught in both Biology and Criminal Justice Departments. Prior to state service, Jennifer coordinated medical research studies and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles with the Physical Therapy Doctoral Program at Azusa Pacific University. One of her passions is sharing her knowledge with her students and other professionals to support them in their current or future careers. She is very excited to take on this new role to create and maintain a new phlebotomy program at Jessup.

Biography:

Dedicated to quality higher educational instruction, Abbey helps Jessup instructors in all disciplines design and teach online courses and works with students to develop their Credit for Prior Learning portfolios. She has been a faculty leader in online course design and teaching for many years: she achieved Online Education Initiative-California Virtual Campus course certification and served as a peer online course reviewer and a facilitator for an online teaching institute. With 20 years of college history teaching experience, she has taught a variety of courses at Jessup, including American history, World Civilizations, African American history, and her specialty, women’s history. She is honored to help lead and present at Jessup’s annual women’s history month events and to have served several years on the executive board and Gold Prize committee of the Western Association of Women Historians.

Outside of Jessup, you will find Abbey keeping up with her amazing teenagers, serving as a women’s ministry teacher and leader, finding ways to travel to historical places, getting in her daily miles, and enjoying time with friends and family.

Biography:

John comes to Jessup with a background in biotechnology where he has extensive experience in cancer research and preclinical studies.  His pharmacology and oncology work with MMPI’s, VEGF inhibitors, and Hsp90 inhibitors has contributed to five Investigational New Drug filings.  One of those filings has resulted in a drug currently being prescribed for cancer treatment.  

John has a passion for team building, efficiency, and all things biology.  He is excited to use his expertise to facilitate and encourage the new generation of God-fearing scientists and health professionals.

Biography:

Holly Carlson has been a Registered Nurse since 2013. She has experience in the hospital, skilled nursing, mental health, outpatient, and home health settings. She is a Certified Nurse Educator, a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, and a Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse. She is actively involved in the Pacific Coast Region of the Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse Society. 

Holly has been in clinical education since 2018 and prelicensure nursing education since 2022. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Ministry at Kairos University with a practice project focusing on building resilience in nurses. Holly is passionate about equipping and empowering the next generation of nurses to fulfil their calling to care for the physical, mental, and spiritual health of their patients.

In her free time, Holly is actively involved in her church community, loves to crochet, and enjoys sitting on her front porch with her husband and children.

Biography:

Dr. Elisabeth Gibson is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with a heart to foster the growth and development of people. Her experience includes working in nonprofit and federal medical and community mental health outpatient settings where she provided psychological services to diverse populations across the lifespan. Passionate about health and wellness, she is also a certified Nutritional Therapist and Movement Coach. She has brought this same desire to serve and develop others into her teaching and ministry experiences. She has served as a leader in various ministries within her church, with her most recent position as a co-youth pastor.

When she isn’t teaching, ministering, or counseling, you can find her baking, crocheting, and spending time with her family and dogs.

Biography:

Dr. Mark Ellis is an educator and scholar with more than twenty-five years of experience in higher education. He has taught thousands of M.B.A. Ph.D. and J.D. students across the United States and internationally. His teaching includes seven years instructing MBA students from Saudi Arabia at a prominent state university. His work reflects a sustained commitment to rigorous instruction and student development.

He has also served as faculty in a Juris Doctor program at a prominent law school recognized by the American Bar Association and featured in the Princeton Review for academic excellence. After graduating from law school himself he passed one of the most demanding state bar examinations in the nation on his first attempt. He also coaches recent law school graduates as they prepare for the bar exam. This mentoring role extends his impact beyond the classroom.

Dr. Ellis holds the M.B.A. J.D. Ph.D. and a post Juris Doctor LL.M. in intellectual property law. He also earned the Doctor of Juridical Science degree from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific. The Doctor of Juridical Science is the highest academic credential obtainable in the field of law.

His areas of expertise include business law, torts, contracts, criminal law, civil procedure, negotiable instruments and payment systems and corporate governance. He also teaches business management, leadership, quantitative research methods and decision science. Since 2007 he has served as doctoral faculty and dissertation committee chair for numerous Ph.D. D.B.A. and Ed.D. students. He also functions as a content expert and course designer within those doctoral programs. His Ph.D. research has been cited in multiple dissertations and academic journals. This citation record reflects influence within scholarly communities.

He is actively involved in global relief efforts. He and his wife have been married since 1989. They have three adult children who are university graduates, working professionals, collegiate athletes and a licensed attorney at a distinguished law firm in Northern California.

Biography:

Michele Corgiat has worked as a clinician in private practice for over 20 years. She brings not only her experience from the therapy office but also her years of providing clinical supervision, networking with other mental health professionals, and teaching at the high school and community college level to her position of teaching and supporting Jessup MACP students in their practicum journey.

Michele and her husband, Eric, have raised and launched two sons. As empty nesters, they find enjoyment in traveling together, when time allows. Michele also has taken up the art of gardening and quilting. She is also currently working on her Ph.D in Psychology.
